 Convenient Insulin Delivery
For more than 80 years, Novo Nordisk has been a world leader in diabetes management. Novo Nordisk products and services help millions of people worldwide to better manage their diabetes.
Novo Nordisk has continued their commitment to diabetes management with the latest in their line of insulin-delivery systems. Levemir FlexPen is a prefilled, disposable pen that provides an alternative to conventional vial and syringe administration.
Levemir FlexPen allows for simple dosing with its easy dosing mechanism 1-unit increments for up to 60 units. Dose correction is easy - simply dial back to the correct dose. It resets to "0" during injection, so Levemir FlexPen is ready to use.
Levemir FlexPen fits in your pocket or purse, making it discreet and easy to carry. Instead of administering your insulin therapy with a vial and syringe, Levemir FlexPen allows you to use this insulin delivery system with quick, adjustable dosing, making injecting insulin easy.
When Levemir FlexPen is empty, dispose of it as you would normally discard an insulin vial. Remember to safely dispose of your needles in a sharps container. Please read your Package Insert before using Levemir FlexPen.
Levemir FlexPen comes prefilled with 3 mL (300 units) of Levemir (insulin detemir (rDNA origin) injection).
Levemir FlexPen is available by prescription only. Ask your doctor if Levemir FlexPen is right for you.
Important Safety Information: People who are allergic to insulin or the other ingredients in Levemir should not take Levemir. Insulins, including Levemir, can cause low blood sugar. This is the most common side effect. The timing of when it occurs may not be the same for different insulin products. You must test your blood sugar levels while using an insulin, such as Levemir. Your doctor will tell you how often you should test your blood sugar level, and what to do if it is high or low. Do not change the insulin you are using without talking to your doctor. Doses of oral anti-diabetic medicines may also need to change. Your insulin needs may change due to a number of factors, such as illness, stress, medicines, or changes in diet or exercise routines. Levemir should not be diluted or mixed with any other insulin or solution. Before starting Levemir, tell your doctor about all your medical conditions including if you have liver or kidney problems, are pregnant or planning to become pregnant, are breast-feeding or planning to breast-feed, or take any other medicines. Do not start any new medicines until you know how they may affect your insulin dose. When you take Levemir, you may notice some side effects common to insulin. These include high blood sugar, reaction at the injection site (like redness, swelling, and itching), or allergic reactions. Other rare but serious side effects could occur. Talk to your doctor right away if you notice any side effects.
